Beginner Yoga "Boot Camp"

pre-paid 4 class sessions 

 These 4 week sessions are designed for those who are new to yoga. This will be a small and intimate class setting, limited to 5 people. If you have thought about trying yoga, but were reticent to try a studio class, this class is for you! We will take our time learning different concepts and postures to raise your comfort level with your practice. This is a terrific opportunity to be in a place where we will all be beginners.

Yoga-Pilates Blend (YPB) with Colleen

Yoga-Pilates Blend (YPB) class takes the very best of Mat Pilates and a selection of complementary Yoga postures to create a unique and comprehensive class.  Colleen will demonstrate and explain the postures clearly and thoroughly and aid any “first-timers” with posture, alignment and breath.  Modifications will be provided for each position so participants will be able to regulate themselves accordingly.  This class is an excellent choice for those wishing to both exercise to work out, but also stretch and work out those annoying kinks in the back and neck.   Colleen is accustomed to working with individuals of varying ages and ability levels.  Please feel free to contact her if you have any questions prior to class.  ​

Vinyasa Flow with Colleen

This is an intermediate-level, Vinyasa style yoga class.  Class will commence with some warm-up exercises and flow into a series of Vinyasa postures that are more friendly while in sand.  We will explore a seated series of asanas, a series of lunges and wide-legged stance asanas, forward bends, back bends, asanas from the table posture, asanas to promote core strength, Pranayama and of course Shavasana.  Modifications will be provided in order to ensure an appropriate level of practice for individuals of varied levels of strength and flexibility.  The goal of this class is to help you work out any kinks, exercise every area of your body, stretch out and make sure you leave feeling energized and refreshed!

Gentle/Beginner Yoga with Colleen
This is a class suitable for beginners and those who want a more gentle class. Postures utilized will be those that still the mind and help release tension. Mind and body will be linked through our breath as we move through the postures. Most of class will be from seated, recumbent and prone positions. When standing postures are performed, they will be limited. The goal of this class is to leave you in a relaxed state with no tension and help regular attendees progress in their practice.

Vinyasa Flow with Jen Murphy

**Jen's classes are finished for 2017 but she will be back next year!
This is an intermediate-level, traditional Vinyasa style yoga class with an athletic twist, but postures can be modified to accommodate yogis of all levels. Jen will emphasize the fundamentals of Vinyasa yoga, including sun salutations, standing, balancing, seated and reclining poses, backbends and core-strengthening poses. Moving in and out of postures safely, correct alignment and proper breathing technique are all important elements of this class. Modifications for all postures will be provided in an effort to meet the needs of practitioners with varying needs. Come and join Jen on the beach Tuesday and Friday mornings for your weekend fix of flow!

Beginner/Gentle Yoga-Pilates Blend
The Yoga-Pilates blend class takes the very best of both worlds to offer a class that is appropriate for all levels. This class is a gentle variation of the usual Yoga-Pilates Blend class. This is suitable for beginners and those with limitation. We will focus on gently stretching out those tight muscles and releasing tension to aid in joint function and relaxation. Colleen uses a selection of Mat Pilates and complementary Yoga postures to create a unique class where mind, body and breath work in unison.  She will demonstrate and explain the postures clearly and thoroughly and aid any “first-timers” with posture, alignment and breath.  Modifications will be provided for each position so participants will be able to regulate themselves accordingly.  This class is an excellent choice for those wishing to stretch and work out those annoying kinks in the back and neck.   Colleen is accustomed to working with individuals of varying ages and ability levels. 

Hatha Yoga with Colleen

This class is a slightly more intense version of the Gentle Yoga class that is still suitable for beginners, and intermediate-level yogis. We begin with a gentle awakening of the body and progress to standing, seated, prone, and supine postures. Postures will be held just long enough to provide a mild strengthening effect and complimented with an array of stretching postures. If you need the kinks worked out of your body, this class will do the trick!
